The problem

In NYC, the stoop is not a safe place for a package.

90,000+

packages a day in NYC are stolen or never reach their destination.

27%

of New Yorkers have had a package stolen.

77%

of LockerNYC pilot survey respondents signed up because of package theft.

Public lockers help, but there are only so many and they fill up. Almost every block already has someone there all day: the bodega, the dry cleaner, a neighbour working from the kitchen table. BodegaDrop lets them hold your packages, safely and on the record.

How it works

Four steps. No lockers, no missed deliveries.

  1. 1

    Find a host

Browse verified bodegas and neighbours on a map. Compare price, hours, sizes and reviews.

  2. 2

    Get your code

Send a request. Once your host accepts, you get their delivery address and your own code, like BD-7K3Q.

  3. 3

    Ship it to them

Put β€œyour name c/o host” and your code on the label, then log the package so your host knows it is coming.

  4. 4

    Pick up with your PIN

You get a photo and a 4 digit PIN when it arrives. Show the PIN, pay your host, done.

Trust and safety

Built so a stranger can become your trusted neighbour.

Every host is ID-verified

Hosts verify with a government ID and a live selfie through our verification partner, Didit, before they can go live.

PIN plus photo handoff

Your host photographs the package when it lands. It is released only to someone with your private 4 digit PIN.

Both sides say yes

You choose your host and they approve you. Message first, read reviews and see how many packages they have handled.

Addresses stay private

Your home address is never shared. A neighbour's pin is shown 400 to 800 m from their real spot, and their address goes only to receivers they accept.

A record of every package

Every package has a timeline: logged, received, photo, picked up. Flag an issue in one tap.

Report or block anyone

Report or block from any profile or chat. Reports go straight to the BodegaDrop team.

We keep only your verified status, never your ID photos or document details. BodegaDrop connects people. It is not a carrier or an insurer, so keep tracking and insurance for valuable items. Terms Β· Privacy

Why not just use a locker?

Lockers are great when one is near you and has space. A host is a person on your block: they take the big boxes, they can be open when you get home, and they know your face after the second pickup.

FAQ

Questions, answered

For receivers

Is it safe to give a stranger my packages?

Every host is ID-verified with a government ID and a live selfie before they go live, and shows a Verified badge. You choose your host and they choose you. Read reviews and message them first. Pickup needs your private 4 digit PIN, and hosts are asked to check photo ID. Report or block anyone from inside the app.

Is my address private?

Yes. Receivers never share a home address. Hosts share their delivery address only with receivers they accept, and neighbour hosts appear on the map 400 to 800 m from their real location.

How much does it cost?

Each host sets a price between $1 and $3 per package. You see it before you request, and you only pay for packages you actually pick up. BodegaDrop takes no fee during the beta.

How long will a host hold my package?

Up to 7 days. You get reminders while it waits. After 7 days the host may ask you to collect it or arrange a return.

What can't I send?

Nothing illegal, hazardous or dangerous: no weapons, drugs, flammable or chemical products, or live animals. No perishables or anything that needs a fridge, and nothing oversize. Large means one person can carry it, up to about 20 kg. Each host lists the sizes they take.

What if my package is lost or damaged?

Flag an issue on the package in the app and your host is notified right away. Most problems are a mixed up label or a late carrier. If the carrier marked it delivered and it never arrived, start a claim with the carrier or seller. You can also reach us from Support in the app.

For hosts

How does ID verification work?

You photograph a government ID and take a quick selfie through our verification partner Didit before your listing goes live. It takes about 2 minutes. We only keep your verified status, never your ID photos or document details. Receivers can verify too for a badge, but it is optional.

Who is liable if something goes wrong?

Hosts agree to take reasonable care of packages, store them indoors, and hand them only to the right person with the right PIN. Beyond that, hosts are not responsible for loss or damage, and BodegaDrop is a platform that connects people, not a carrier or insurer. Read the full terms.

How do I get paid?

Receivers pay you directly at pickup, in person or by Venmo, during the beta. Your dashboard tracks every package and what you are owed. Card payments are coming.

Can I be a receiver and a host?

Yes. One account can do both.

Never come home to an empty stoop again.
